Department of Surveying
The Department of Surveying is one of the original departments of Helsinki University of Technology. The department is responsible for the highest level of education for surveying sciences in Finland. In addition, it is the only comprehensive university unit of the field in the country. In accordance to the field of surveying science, the department has two degree programmes, Geomatics and Real estate economics, which provide high-level undergraduate teaching and scientific postgraduate studies. The department coordinates a national graduate school on Real estate, building and design, a join school for five Finnish universities.
The annual intake for bachelor-level studies in 90 students and for master-level 30 students. Approximately 20 students begin postgraduate studies annually. The department has eight professors and four responsibilities. Those are equally divided according to the degree programmes. The responsibilities of geomatics, namely Photogrammetry and remote sensing and Geoinformation and positioning technology, focus on producing and analysing position-based information. The responsibilities of Real estate economics are Real estate studies and Finance law.
